Hardware and Software Requirements

It is recommended that the users of the web-based Food and Agriculture Education Information System (FAEIS) use either Internet Explorer 4.01 (or later version) or Netscape 4.05 (or later version) browsers. Any computer capable of running your browser is suitable.

For most users there is not a minimum monitor size. But users entering data for FAEIS may wish to consider at least an 18 inch monitor and 1024x768 resolution. A larger monitor for data entry will reduce the need to scroll, thus speeding up the data entry process.

The Help Desk section of the FAEIS web site contains several movie clip training aids for users. To view the Quick Tour movies, Macromedia flash player software is required. Your browser most likely contains a flash player component. If not, you can download the required software from Macromedia. The following hardware is required to view the movies:

  • Speakers and Sound Card.
  • Monitor (17" minimum) (800x600 resolution), (1024x768 resolution preferred).
Adobe Reader is Required for Reading PDF files.
