Data Entry
- Academic Area
-
FAEIS student survey data are collected by disciplines as defined by CIP codes. Reporting the
disciplines can be summarized by academic areas and further defined by program areas. An example of a academic area
is Animal Science, which would include all the disciplines related to Animal Science.
- Assigned Surveys
-
Each student survey or discipline is assigned to one or more data entry user. Multiple data users are useful
when the data entry responsibilities are divided. For example, one person may enter the undergraduate information
and another person would enter the graduate information.
- CIP Codes
-
Classification of Instructional Programs codes were created by the U.S. Department of Education to assist in
collecting, analyzing and reporting data in a systemic procedure. FAEIS uses a subset of the CIP codes to collect
and report data by disciplines related to Food and Agriculture. This is the smallest level of reporting programs.
- College Coordinators
-
The role of the FAEIS College Coordinators can vary from one institution to another. The coordinator may
just monitor the data entry of FAEIS data or take a more active role by creating and assigning surveys. All
coordinators are authorized to identify disciplines for their college and assign the disciplines to a person who will
be responsible for data entry. Also, coordinators are authorized to view all the college's data and they
can use the FAEIS Custom Report Builder to view and summarize national data.
- Contact Your Users
-
This is a feature of the FAEIS application that allows the College Cordinators to send electronic messages to
his/her data entry users.
- Create a Survey
-
The first time the College Coordinator logs in to FAEIS there are no surveys for the college. To create surveys for
the college the coordinator must select disciplines from the list of CIP codes.
- Degrees Awarded
-
Number of degrees awarded during the past academic year by discipline, degree level, ethnicity and gender.
- Disciplines
-

the faculty member's annual salary divided by their number of months of appointment.
- New Faculty Member
-

- Optional ID String
-
The names of faculty members are not entered in the system. The Optional ID String
can be used by the data provider to identify the faculty member with the faculty member's
personal data.

organizations, USDA representatives and the project directors.
The panel members provide guidance, advice and serve as an advocate for FAEIS.
