Mission of FAEIS

The mission of the Food and Agricultural Education Information System (FAEIS) Project is to gather and compile a broad range of higher education information related to the food and agricultural sciences (Agriculture, Forestry, Renewable Natural Resources, Human Sciences/Family and Consumer Sciences, Veterinary Medicine/Veterinary Science, and closely allied fields). FAEIS provides empirical information for use in planning, benchmarking, and coordinating efforts, directed towards supporting higher education in the food, agricultural and natural resource sciences. As a comprehensive system, FAEIS offers an accessible resource for faculty, higher education administrators, government officials, industry professionals, and the general public to strengthen higher education programs in the food, agricultural and natural resource sciences.

Purpose of FAEIS Peer Panel

The quality and timeliness of the FAEIS data are critical to planning for the Nation's needed expertise in the food and agricultural sciences. It is essential that users be represented in determining future directions and goals so that FAEIS can continue to be relevant and useful. The FAEIS Peer Panel meets these needs.

The primary role of the FAEIS Peer Panel is to:

  1. Represent the respective clientele groups in providing policy advice and counsel to FAEIS in its future role and scope.
  2. Provide technical guidance to FAEIS from participating institutions and other users on data collection, classification, formatting and access issues.
  3. Serve as an advocate of FAEIS through communication with present and potential user groups across both the public and private sector.
